You are invited to nominate individuals and organizations who make outstanding philanthropic contributions to our region. National Philanthropy Day® (NPD) is a special day set aside to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy-and those people active in the philanthropic community-to the enrichment of our world. It is a day to reflect on the meaning of giving and all that it has made possible.
Individuals and organizations throughout our region are encouraged to submit nominations in one of six categories: individual philanthropists, volunteers, corporations/businesses/organizations, community/family foundations, youth and professional fundraisers.

Message from the President, Helene Conway-Long
I was honored to recently accept the following awards on behalf of our members at the Presidents Council meeting at the AFP International Conference in Baltimore: Ten Star Gold Award and Friends of Diversity Designation for the second consecutive year! Our Chapter also won the 251-400 member Chapter Grouping category for highest 2014 retention and three-year retention rate.
Of the 238 chapters in AFP, only 43 chapters received the 2014 Ten Star Gold Award, which is given annually for performing specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. “I want to congratulate the Western Pennsylvania Chapter, which is playing a key role in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia in promoting ethical and effective fundraising and educating the public about the importance of philanthropy and wise giving,” said Andrew Watt, FInstF, president and CEO of AFP.
